Automotive and Signalling Goniophotometers
PSI offers a diverse range of Automotive and Signalling Goniophotometers. These operate in the CIE A/alpha coordinate system, and are used to measure and evaluate devices such as:
Automotive lighting, for example: headlamps, stoplamps, indicators, etc.;
- Other signalling devices including traffic lights, railway signals, etc.;
- Maritime and aeronautical signalling devices.
The laboratory equipment required depends on the types of test items being measured, the sophistication of the test equipment required, and the overall accuracy of measurement required.
These devices can generally be grouped into three main categories: the ASG-5.0 for high-end applications; the ASG-3.0 for mid-range; the ASG-2.0 for compact space requirements; and the budget ASG-1 series. They can all be integrated with other equipment including our Integrating Spheres, Spectrometers; Licence Plate Measurement Systems and Reflex Reflector Measurement Systems to provide fully equipped photometric laboratories.

ASG-5.0 Advanced Automotive & Signalling Goniophotometer
The ASG-5.0 is a high-end goniophotometer for all automotive and signalling applications.
It has the performance required for all automotive photometric tests to the ECE, SAE, JIS, ADR and other rules. It is a powerful tool for measuring devices ranging from small side markers to compound assemblies, and is ideal for public testing laboratories and R&D institutes.

ASG-3.0 Midrange Automotive & Signalling Goniophotometer
The ASG-3.0 is a mid-range goniophotometer for all automotive and signalling applications.
It is more compact than the ASG-5.0, and it provides excellent features including ability to perform photometric tests to most automotive rules and also regulations for other signalling devices. It is a perfect trade-off between cost and performance.

ASG-2.0 Compact Automotive & Signalling Goniophotometer
The ASG-2.0 is a compact goniophotometer for automotive and signalling applications.
It can fit into narrow laboratory environments, and because it is supported from beneath it has the capacity for heavy test samples.

ASG-1.1 & ASG-1.5 Budget Automotive & Signalling Goniophotometers
The ASG-1.1 is a lightweight, budget goniophotometer for automotive and signalling applications.
It is also designed primarily for smaller manufacturers and those who have moderate aims in their photometric testing, such as for prototyping and other research and development purposes. According to application, it can be bench-mounted or freestanding.

RR-1.0 & 5.0 Reflex Reflector Measurement Systems
Reflex Reflector Measurement Systems are designed to measure the Coefficient of Luminous Intensity (CIL) of reflex reflectors.
The measurement setup involves using a projector to illuminate the test item, and then measuring the luminous intensity of the light reflected from the test item. The ratio of the luminous intensity emitted by the reflector (in candelas) to the illuminance on the reflector (in lux) is the coefficient of luminous intensity or CIL (cd/lx).
Because the luminous intensity measurement is performed at small observation angles, the projector is usually a large distance removed from the test item (typically 15 or 30.48 metres) and the photocell is mounted directly above the projector. Because the samples are usually required to be tilted and rotated, these systems normally operate in conjunction with one of our Automotive and Signalling Goniophotometers.
Specifications | RR-1.0 | RR-5.0 |
Projector | stabilised with a temperature of 2856K and uniformity ≤ 5% over a 260mm dia. | |
Photocell | V (λ) corrected with f1’ < 1.50% and thermally stabilised at 35.0°C. |
